That proprietary port does rather limit you in terms of chargers and other accessories besides what Microsoft itself makes, but it's not something that's a huge drawback in our opinion. In terms of ports, there's not a great selection, though it's fairly standard for a laptop of this size and weight: you get one USB-C port, one USB-A port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the Surface Connect port that Microsoft likes to put on its laptops. Besides the standard aluminium design of our review model, you can also opt for an Alcantara material option for that little bit of extra luxury. The design hasn't changed much from the Surface Laptop 3, but then again it didn't really need to.

The Surface Pro 8 also works with the Surface Slim Pen 2.As you can see from the images accompanying this review, the Surface Laptop 4 can hold its own in terms of aesthetics against most other laptops on the market. The Surface Pro 8 also has Dolby Atmos sound and dual far-field Studio Mics, which should help people studying or working from home. The 2-in-1 has a 5-megapixel camera on the front and a 10-megapixel camera on the back, the latter of which supports 4K. The Surface Pro 8 supports Dolby Vision and Adaptive Color Technology as well. This should work well with the Dynamic Refresh Rate of Windows 11. In a first for the Surface Pro lineup, the Surface Pro 8's display is 120Hz. That display expands close to the edges of the device, much like the Surface Pro X. The Surface Pro 8 has a 13-inch PixelSense touchscreen display.

Thunderbolt support is significant as Microsoft has held off until this generation of Surface devices. The newest Surface Pro has an 11th Gen Intel Core processor, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and is built on the Intel Evo platform.
